The prime motto of this Centre is to promote Inclusive Education for differently abled persons in the mainstream education system andsociety in general. Though this resource Centre is right now equipped with assistive technology laboratory for people with visual impairment and orthopedic disabilities to begin with, in long run it is expected to grow and augment assistive technologies for other types of disabilities as well. Considering the ease-of-accessibility factor this well-equipped and well-furnished Centre has been established in the specious building of Central Library(Knowledge Resource Centre) under the able guidance of Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor Prof. P. P. Patil. This Centre is being run by two dedicated staff members appointed exclusively this Centre, under the supervision of Centre Co-ordinator. Overall administrative monitoring and planning of activities will be done by higher committee constituted as per RUSA guidelines comprising of higher authorities under the chairmanship of Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor Prof. P. P. Patil.
The Resource Centre has well-furnished networked computer laboratory with document scanning, printing, Internet connectivity with both wired and Wi-Fi facilities along with special software for visually impaired persons. The Centre also has A-V facility and comfortable seating arrangement for 30-35 persons, where various hands-on, technical and awareness/sensitization workshops would be conductedin future for teaching and non-teaching staff of the university as well as affiliated colleges. The overall ambience of the Centre is very soothing, user-friendly and academically inductive. Hence, we are fully confident that this Centre will provide new avenues of education and auxiliary knowledge/information resources for specially abled persons through use of assistive technology. Further it will provide exposure to specially abled persons to various modern technologies to make their life comfortable and hassel-free.
